How do I choose my NEW air conditioner?
My house has copper piping!

Houses nowadays are commonly installed with copper piping for a more pleasant view of the room. However, the use of copper piping will determine the kind of refrigerant for your air conditioner.
Example: If your existing copper piping is suitable for the usage of R22 refrigerant but you would like to switch it to R410A refrigerant air conditioner, you are required to change your existing copper piping and re-conceal it once again, which will incur extra expenses.
Help! My house does not have any copper piping installed!

Is my house suitable to install an air conditioner?

A normal household is usually installed with a single phase two wire providing 240V up to 12kVA which is sufficient for a normal household with normal electrical consumption. TNB suggested that household with high electrical consumption should change to a 4 wire three phase system which provides 415V up to 45kVA.
Tips: Rule of Thumb to Determine Normal Electrical Consumption. 1 Television, 1 Refrigerator, 1 instant water heater, 1 personal computer, 3 air conditioners. Or a monthly consumption less than 725kWh (around RM300).
Which Air Conditioner Model Best Suit My Needs?

What is BTU? BTU is the most important thing to look out for when selecting an air conditioner. The right value is highly essential to make sure that the air conditioner is working at peak efficiency.
- The British Thermal Unit (BTU) is the international measurement of energy.
- A BTU measures the amount of heat an AC unit can remove from the room.
- As the BTU rating increases, so does the size, weight and cost of the AC. Room ACs are generally 5,000 to 24,000 BTU .
Room Size- Calculate the floor space by measuring the length and width of the room. Assuming normal floor height of 10ft (3m)
- If the installed AC is too small for your room, it might take a very long time to cool your room or not at all.
-While an oversized air conditioner might cause sweating and frequent compressor cutoff.
